Here’s the two of them together. I really like how it turned out. I also love how I arranged the red thread to slightly resemble a heart monitor, it’s as if they are following a beating heart leading to each other! I use red thread a lot in my pieces because of its symbolism. The original story of the red thread is used to represent fate and sole mates: something that is destined to happen. I like this idea of destiny in the context of the queer community. The narrative of queerness and finding one’s queerness is about letting go of fears and things that hold you back, and instead following the red thread that brings to your authentic self. “Onwards!” represents the traditional and how we move away from tradition while also still allowing it to be a part of us, while in
“What Led Me to You” its a futuristic person finding discovering the rich history of someone they are designed to be with.
