Drawing
This drawing was quite simple, but one of the more straigtforward pieces I’ve done. Usually I keep interactions between two characters minimal, but here I’ve decided to keep things more obviously intimate. This piece takes the two characters from “Onwards!” and “What Led Me to You!” and depicts them in this moment of sharing a peach. I posed this with my partner haha biting into a unripe peach wasn’t that pleasant to be honest. But I like how this turned out. I know that there are different associations with peaches, but again this piece is one of the most straighforward paintings I’ve done. I just wanted to illustrate a moment of sharing food between two people in a way that obviously depicts them as a couple. My initial sketches were almost Renaissance-looking: with a whole illustration of the two of them wandering in a garden hands outstretched towards each other in offering. Part of this decision was timing wise so that I could focus on crafting the frame well, but also it was me giving myself permission to make art that simply states, instead of my usual narrative “I spy” illustratons riddled with metaphors and symbolism.
