Smithing Process
This was the original layout for the frame. I had spent about two weeks staying late in the forge crafting all of these pieces. I used several basic techniques to taper, flatten, and twist bar into these flourishes. I even learned some forge welding which I used on the pieces where two branches sprout outwards from one stem. Blacksmithing was a really cool class and I found myself comparing metal to glass often. In the crafting of metal I found it was a slower process yet also more forgiving than the glass work which I’m familiar with. I don’t work with metal that often anymore but I would love to do more.
